Twelve Earthly Branches — The Hidden Wiring
Decode the bottom row of your chart. Explore Hidden Stems, Six Harmonies, Clashes, and Punishments — the dynamic relationships that reveal how energies attract, collide, and transform beneath the surface.
Earthly Branches 101 — From Zi to Hai
The 12 Earthly Branches are BaZi's hidden layer — each one mapped to an animal, element, time of day, and month of the year. Meet all 12 and understand why they're the system's deeper, more complex dimension.
Hidden Stems — The Energy Beneath the Surface
Each Earthly Branch contains 1-3 Hidden Stems — nested energies that define the branch's true depth. Learn why branches are like files with metadata inside, and how Hidden Stems determine whether a Stem has "roots" in the chart.
Six Harmonies — Natural Attractions
Six pairs of Earthly Branches naturally attract and bond — like trines in astrology, but with a transformative twist. Learn the six pairings, what element each harmony produces, and what it means when they appear in your chart.
Triple Harmony & Directional Combo — Power Convergence
When three Branches align, they create an elemental powerhouse. Learn the four Triple Harmonies and four Directional Combos — BaZi's equivalent of a Grand Trine — and what it means when one forms in your chart.
Six Clashes — Collision and Change
Six pairs of Branches sit at opposite poles — when they meet, energy collides. But clashes aren't disasters. Like oppositions in astrology, they force movement, prevent stagnation, and sometimes catalyze breakthroughs.
Punishments — Subtle Friction
Punishments are BaZi's squares — subtle internal friction that builds character through tension. Learn the four types: Graceless, Persistent, Bullying, and Self-Punishment, and why they're growth catalysts rather than curses.
Branch Relationships Summary — Dynamic Equilibrium
All Branch relationships in one frame: harmonies, Triple Harmonies, Directional Combos, clashes, punishments, and harms. Learn how they interact in real charts, their priority hierarchy, and why the whole system is always in motion.
